2AOH - Scouts

The Scout section is part of the overall Scout movement. It is the third section within the Scout movement, for boys and girls aged between 10 ½ to 15, after Scouts there is Explorers, which is from the age 14 to 18. Explorers are arranged on a district level so Scouts is the ‘top’ section within 2nd Amersham-on-the-Hill.

Cub Scouts are eligible to move into the Scout section when they are 10½, and should move before they reach 11, the precise timing is dependent on such things as finishing off awards within Cubs. Also, it is preferable for two or three cubs from the same pack to move into Scouts at the same time, then there is at least one person whom they know.

Scouts can be daunting at first, in Cubs, they were the oldest and most experienced, suddenly, they are the youngest and smallest, some of the older ones will be 14 and can be over 6 feet tall! However, there will be other Scouts whom they know from school and others who moved into Scouts from their Cub pack some months earlier.
